new bead specials up...
last week's FREE BEADS winner is...
~*~*~ Beth from Minnesota ~*~*~
Congratulations Beth! Thanks for the votes! She may be the last winner until after I'm done moving. Please see my FREE BEADS page for more details.
Well it seems this move is coming up sooner than I thought. Movers are coming either Friday or Saturday of this week and we're leaving on Tuesday the 26th. As such I'm going to have to post my bead specials in the next couple of days. Otherwise there will be no time to package and ship before I get packed and shipped! So look for new beads specials in the next couple of days.
this week's FREE BEADS
friday afternoon
I've got 6 sets of beads made! Can you believe that? I had one of you gals email saying I was crazy to even be considering bead specials with my move going on. As sweet as it was for her to say that, I actually find making beads relaxing. Takes my mind off things. Plus I had 3 sets already made so I figured I could crank out a few more. So I should have bead specials ready by the end of next week. I'm going to try and make 4 more sets to even out the offering to 10 sets. Stay tuned!

Congratulations Sherry. Thanks for voting ladies!
Move stuff is getting more intense. I've got people coming to quote on packing, transporting, etc. It's becoming more real! Yikes! Still no movement at all on this house. I buried my St. Joseph statue in the front yard. I'm keeping the faith that he will help me out!!
I realize August is one of the worst months to sell. Both of my realtors (here and down south) agree that the Fall tends to be pretty busy for real estate. So I'm praying that's true!! We close on the 29th on our new house. Patrick starts school on the 27th. I don't know if I'll be there or here. Someone has to be around for the movers. Yet someone has to be around for Patrick's first day! And I'm afraid it'll be my husband instead of me! Not that JP can't handle it. I just want to be there too! I realize he's 13 and in 8th grade but mommmas never stop loving their boys. I've only got 5 more first day's of school before college. And although the days of walking him to class are long gone (and have been for a few years), I just want to be there to see him off on his first day. Especially going to a new school! Patrick could probably care less either way. It'll be me that has to deal with it. Well that'll just be one more thing to figure out...along with the hundreds of other decisions I have to make.
Speaking of which I have to get going. I still have to make so many calls. With no one around to care for the house, I have to find a pool cleaner, a gardner, I still have another moving quote apppointment to make, we need a new water softener along with installation, review the quotes on our new house insurance, what to do with the dogs while we're inbetween places, etc, etc, etc! I HATE MOVING!!!
Stay tuned. With all the madness, I still intend on getting new bead specials up before I move.

~*~*~ Mary from CA ~*~*~
Congratulations Mary! Thanks for the votes ladies!
and here's what Mary won:
As you can see, I'm finally getting with it. I feel a bit better today. That z-pak is finally kicking in. Yes, I finally dragged myself to the doctor and got some drugs. I had bronchitis so it's a good thing. I felt miserable! I'm sure the stress of this move didn't help. I've never been one to carry stress with me but last week was a doozy for me. All I could think about was where we would live if we didn't get this house. Houses are selling fast in the area we're moving and good ones don't come up that often. There was another bid on the house and I was so worried that our offer wouldn't get accepted. I should have expected it. I felt a tickle in my throat last Tuesday - the day we were leaving. So maybe being stressed about the house pushed me over the edge.
Anyway I'm better now. Love those drugs! My hubby is coming home tonight - yea! A day early! I'm thrilled since he wasn't supposed to be home until tomorrow. So that's a treat. I'm going to get a few things done around here before he gets home. Have a great night!
monday afternoon Never got around to those FREE BEAD pictures. I've got an AWFUL cold. I've been laid up for a few days. I probably won't get around to them until I get this week's FREE BEAD pictures up...which will be on Friday I'm sure...especially with all the other stuff I have going on this week.
I have lots to get moving on with the new house. Our inspection was done today. All went well there for the most part. Our closing is in 30 days which means we should be getting into our new house around the first of September. So I have to call movers and all kinds of other stuff. Not looking forward to any of it, but it must be done. I hope I'm feeling better just so I can get motivated to do it.
saturday afternoon I have FREE BEADS but haven't take pictures yet. I was too busy this week...buying a house! Yes! We found a house!! I'm very happy we can move forward from there. Details later.
I mainly wanted to stop by to scream... I WANT A MAKEOVER!!
wednesday night
I'm sure many of you have heard about or seen the video of the lion named Christian. In case you haven't, click here.
Very sweet. Wonder if Whitney is getting royalties...you'll see why.

Congratulations Lisa! Thanks for voting!
I'm off on my house hunting trip for 2 days. Wish me luck! I'll leave you with this picture that I fell in love with at Corinabeads.com. I hope Corina doesn't mind that I copy and pasted it here but I couldn't help it. I had to share! The stringer work is amazing, not to mention the concept. That girl constantly amazes me. Just when you think you've figured out every type of bead to make, here comes Corina with a new one. Click on the picture to go to her site. While you're there, you'll want to click on her menu link titled "Galleries" which will bring up her eBay auction archives. You'll sit for hours drooling over her beads. The best!
Geez...what am I thinking? Once you visit her site....
you'll never come back!
today's FREE BEADS
friday
Yikes! It's been that long since I last updated?? Sorry about that. Yet there's not much going on. Among other things, I did have time to bead. I finished up a custom order and have a couple more to do. Yet I did squeeze some time in to work on bead specials. I'm happy to report I have 3 sets strung up and ready to go. My hope is to have new bead specials in a couple of weeks.
I'm going down South for a couple of days on Sunday. There are a few new homes on the market that I haven't seen so I'm hoping I like one of them. I think most people that don't need to move aren't - and those are the homes I probably would like. The people that need to sell - you can tell - their homes just don't show well. You wouldn't believe the things I witnessed on my last trip down. Touring homes is one of my most favorite things to do - yet I haven't found that to be the case with this move. Mainly because there's not a lot on the market. But I also wonder how badly people want to sell their house when I look back on the things I witnessed.
The very first house I saw on my last trip had 2 dogs. No problem. I love dogs - I have 2 of my own. Yet when I show my house, I put them in their kennel in the garage. Well the first house I stepped foot in had both dogs loose and blocked inside the kitchen. No joke - blocked with a baby gate. They were barking so loud I couldn't hear my realtor talking to me - we were shouting. I walked over to the kitchen and wanted to step inside to take a peek. Yet I never got an opportunity. The moment I lifted my leg to step over the gate, the larger dog put its ears down and started growling at me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How badly do these people want to sell their house?
We went to another house that when my realtor opened the front door to announce "hello - broker", a lady walked passed an open doorway in a pink, silk nightgown. No kidding. My realtor asked if she got the message that we were coming by. She said yes but that she "got in late last night and her back hurt so she didn't want to get up". As I approached the living room she had her feet propped up on the coffee table watching Jerry Springer. And I'll add that the house we were touring was at the top of our price range. What is wrong with people??
And I also couldn't believe how many homeowners were home! I'm NEVER home when I have a showing. How uncomfortable! In all my years of buying homes, I could count on one hand the amount of homeowners that stayed in the house when I arrived to tour. Off the top of my head, I can count 12 houses on my last trip that I toured where the owners were home. Needless to say it cut my usual visit down from 10 minutes to about 3. One homeowner was making dinner when we arrived - no joke. And yes, they knew we were coming!
I viewed 2 homes where there were babies sleeping so we were greeted at the front door with a "sshhhh...there's a baby sleeping". They also added that we were not allowed to look in the sleeping baby's bedroom AND that we needed to whisper. Another guy had broken his leg and was in a wheelchair in the middle of the living room. Oh my gosh he was in a bad mood. We apologized for coming in (can you believe that) and he just waved us off. Another house had their cleaning people there with music blasting through the house. One house had dirty underwear on the floor in the bathroom on top of a pair of shorts - how do you miss that? One house had an unflushed toilet and the homeowner was in the next room. I had an instant visual of her zipping up her pants as we rang the doorbell so she didn't flush OR wash.
I felt bad for one homeowner. This gal wanted us to call her about 10 minutes before we were going to arrive. She had 2 big dogs that she wanted to leave the house with. I thought that was very nice. Well as she was getting in her car just before we arrived, she slipped and broke her ankle. We found out the next day because I wanted to see the house again with JP and she had to stay home to keep her foot elevated. Of course I understood that - and I felt SO bad. She was very sweet actually which made me feel worse. I almost felt obligated to buy the house since it was because of me that she had the accident! But she had an offer on the house the next day so that made me feel better.
Geez I'm in a rambling mood today! Well I had some time so I thought I'd share. Wish me luck on my next trip down. Patrick starts school in exactly 33 days and we have no place to live!
Stay tuned!
sunday
Hey guys! Just popping in to bring up a good point that one of you beaders mentioned. There are missing money scams out there. Especially the ones that are sent directly to your email address. Yet if you follow this link, it will give you things to be cautious of when claiming money. If you scroll to the bottom of that page, it provides legitimate websites where you can claim money. One of them is the site I gave you. There are others as well. I received my link from The Today Show - so I trusted it was safe - and it is thankfully.
Also be sure that you're sending your request for money directly to the state where you're owed money. NEVER a 3rd party. I sent my letter to the state treasurer of Kansas. And most importantly, you should NEVER have to pay a fee to receive your money - that's a true sign of a scam. The link I posted below is a way to see which states owe you money. From there you have to go directly to the state's site to claim it. That way you know you're legit.
Boys are going golfing today so I'll be torching. I hope I can fit some time in to start on some specials!
Stay tuned.

~*~*~ Karen from Florida ~*~*~
Congratulations Karen! Thanks for all the votes y'all!
I'm happy to report that I've received emails from 2 of you that can claim money from missingmoney.com! How awesome is that. I hope you guys all take the time to check out that site. It takes just a few minutes and it could really pay off big!
I also wanted to share this picture with you from Maria in Luxembourg. I really like how she created this necklace with one of my CiRcLeTs. What a unique way to set it off instead of just stringing in on a chain. Very creative.
Maria got me thinking that I need to create a Designer's Page where I post pictures of your creations with my beads. I have been considering it forever but have never taken the time to do it. Yet if I get enough pictures I will. I had dozens upon dozens of pictures on my old computer that many of you sent. But my computer crashed so they're all lost. Yet if I can get about 10 pictures I'll start a page. I'll even attach a link to your site if you have one. So for those of you that have made some fun pieces with my beads, please send over your pictures. I'll work on getting a page together as soon as I have enough to do so.
Well I think I'm going to go veg a bit on the couch with my hubby. We had a showing today so we were busy all morning getting the house spotless. I'm doing a bit of laundry but otherwise there's not much to do if you can believe that. We've got plans later so I might as well take the time to relax a bit.
Y'all have a great afternoon!
this week's FREE BEADS
monday night I had some time to bead today so I'll be posting this week's FREE BEAD pictures up in the next couple of days.
But the main reason why I popped in tonight was to tell you guys about a terrific little website that may turn into some money for you. I saw it on TV this morning while at the gym. It's www.missingmoney.com As you can probably figure out, it's a place to find out if you have money missing. I've seen the lists in the newspapers occasionally but have NEVER seen my name.
Well I clicked on the site this evening just to humor myself and found our name! A whopping $168 from an insurance policy. WHO KNEW?? I was so excited - it was better than Christmas morning. I totally never thought I'd find our name listed. I also found my mom, dad and brother on there. Their amounts were less, but it's still money.
So if you're bored, check it out. Be sure to check your maiden name too!

~*~*~ Lulie from South Carolina ~*~*~
Congratulations Lulie! Thanks for the votes ladies!
Well as you can see - I'm back! We had a fun week but came home empty-handed. No house just yet. There's very little inventory right now. I suspect it's because the markets are so bad that people that don't need to sell, aren't. And the ones that do have stinky houses!
Yet we did narrow our search down to one area. As we were leaving on Friday, 2 houses came on the market. The homeowners were out of town so JP and his cousin are going to take a peek on Wednesday. I've been staying true to my mantra of "one day at a time". As cliche as that is, it's really working for me. I'm not going to worry about whether or not we'll find a house by the time school starts.
We went to dinner last night with some friends and ran into some people we knew. The question of the night that kept popping up was, "what are you gonna' do?" I simply replied, I don't know. And I really don't. I'm usually a planner, having everything laid out so I know where my next step will be but I can honestly say I have NO clue what we're going to do. Patrick starts school on August 27th so one way or another, we'll be sleeping somewhere that night.
I just can't stress out about it. This will be the first move where I think we're going to have to stay in an extended stay hotel or something. I'm not one for renting homes. Much of the reason is we'll probably have to sign a 6 month or year lease, so what if a house pops up in the middle of our lease? We're stuck. So we'll just keep plugging along hoping a house pops up by the end of the summer so the longest we'll have to stay in a hotel, or the likes, is a month. There's not much else we can do. And I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over it. It's not the worst thing in the world.
On a happier note, VENT is leading the voting competition to play in the Rock Against Diabetes Bash in Vegas!! Thank You for voting!!! Some of you even put links on your site to vote and sent out emails to your friends. Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it. VENT really appreciates it!
I think I may have time to bead today. JP and Patrick are either going to play golf or going to get new hockey equipment. Patrick is thrilled about playing hockey again. We're going to be within 20 minutes of an ice rink. He hasn't played in 3 years but played the 5 years prior to that. He loved it. If he could drop every sport and just play hockey, he would. And I need all the ammo I can to show my 13 year-old kid that this move will be OK.
Stay tuned.
monday night
I have a favor to ask you gals. A friend of mine's husband plays in a band on the weekends. They used to live here in Hollister but moved away last summer. They played at a local winery from time-to-time, as well as other events around town. We really miss'em - they are really good.
Anyway, I'm not sure of all the details but my friend sent me a link to vote for her husband's band to win an opportunity to play at the Rock Against Diabetes Show. If they get enough votes they'll be chosen to play at the pre-show bash, as well as the main show the next day in Vegas.
You don't have to do this but if you don't mind - it'll help them get noticed. Or, of course, unless you have a band you prefer on the link I'm posting. If you decide to do so, please vote for the band VENT!
You can cast your vote here.
Thanks!

AND THIS WEEK's FREE BEADS!!!
OK! DONE!
I think I'm caught up now! Thanks for keeping the faith (and continuing to vote) that I'd be giving away FREE BEADS even when I didn't have any beads made. I may be a little late...but eventually I come through. Have a great evening!
monday morning
Well I finally told the truth. I made beads this weekend! I know! Can you believe it? It's been so long I thought I'd forgotten how. I really enjoyed myself. Especially with all I've had going on - it was a nice escape. And not only did I make beads for last, last week's AND last week's FREE BEADS but also for THIS WEEK's FREE BEADS! That is shocking! Finally I'm caught up. I've got 2 showings on the house today but I'll try to squeeze in some time this afternoon to photog them and get'em posted.
I did have a showing yesterday. I was a bit surprised. It's such a stinky market that I'm surprised there are people actually out there looking to buy. I'm very pleased we're getting some activity. I've got the house pretty easy to maintain so it only takes me about an hour give or take to get the house ready. I think turning on all the lights takes the longest. Plus I've got Patrick helping me out. He can pretty well guarantee that he's going to pull out the vacuum each time there's a showing. I'm pretty anal when it comes to selling my house. Everything has to be just so. It's like a ritual I have moving from room to room doing whatever it is that needs to be done. And I can't leave until it's all exactly right. Yet the house looks pretty good from yesterday so there's not too much to do today. I may only have to vacuum to erase the track marks on the carpet but everything else is pretty much good to go. Yea!
I just pray one of these lookers is ready to buy and likes my house. PLEASE!!!!!!!!! I'm tired of cleaning!!!!! Back with bead pics later AND winners from all these previous FREE BEAD drawings.
Stay tuned.
friday afternoon
I'm still here! This was a very busy week for me. The house is on the market, the realtor tour came through and now I can finally rest....for just a little while at least. All the hard work these past few weeks paid off. We're finally moved in! It took us 4 years, but we're finally living in our house the way I've wanted to live in it since I unlocked the front door. With all the moves we've made, we never really quite "moved-in". I find we just want to get all the boxes out of the way so we just put things wherever they fit. We never really organize or put things in the right place. So I found I was always cramming something here or there just to get it out of the way.
Since we did so much purging, that opened up space for necessities so now everything in my house has a home. And it feels so good - or will for the next 2 months that we're here. I find it's so easy to keep this house picked up now...and kind of makes me mad that it took me leaving to get it to this point! But alas I am and I'll relish in it for the rest of my stay.
Which brings me to beads. Although I didn't have time to bead this week, I think I may be able to this weekend - maybe even today! The boys are all going golfing in a bit so that'll leave me the afternoon to get my work space set up in the garage. If that goes well I may turn on the torch today. If not, I'll be ready for it tomorrow. So although I don't have last week's or this week's free beads...I hope to by the end of the weekend. And I also intend on FINALLY drawing names for the previous 3 weeks' winners this weekend too - I PROMISE.
I had a good suggestion from a gal that said I shouldn't fret over these free beads. With all I have going on, I should instead hold my drawings every OTHER friday. I think that's a fantastic idea. And I may just do that. But for now I'm going to "try" and see if I can get caught up and maybe get ahead of the game this weekend. I feel like I can finally relax just a little bit. I have another realtor tour next Tuesday but I'm pretty much ready to go.
So that's what's going on in my world. The fires up here are casting a very eerie fog in the sky. Kind of like the LA smog which we never get up here. Yet I should get used to them since I'm headed in that direction! I hope just living an hour north will keep us away from it...I so prefer blue skies. I pray they get these fires contained soon.
Stay tuned.
last week's FREE BEADS
friday afternoon
I'm back! Well, I've been back since Wednesday but I hit the ground running since I returned. It hit me this morning that today is FREE BEAD friday! And here I thought I was ahead of the game when in fact I'm a week behind. The beads you see pictured to the right are LAST week's FREE BEADS. I thought I already had last week's FREE BEADS posted. And yet, I still have not picked FREE BEAD winners from the 30th or the 6th..and now the 13th.
I don't have FREE BEADS for today so what I'll do is hold today's FREE BEAD drawing with next week's FREE BEAD drawing. I had to dig DEEP into my bead stash to find beads for last week's FREE BEADS. The CiRcLeT has been sitting in my stash for some time. I had intially made it for one of my bead special offerings but I didn't like how the yellow kind of "carmelized" in the heat. It's a neat effect I think but I wouldn't sell it. Yet for FREE it'll work. And it's either that or I don't offer FREE BEADS. I'm worried I won't have time to make beads for next week's 2 drawings either! But I'll do it somehow.
I have the realtor coming out tomorrow to draw up the papers to list our house. I'm about 80% there with having the house ready. I figure it'll be a few days before it's actually on the MLS listings so that'll buy me some time. And with how stinky the markets are around here anyway, I'm sure I won't have a looker for quite some time.
So I'm off to cross a few more things off my list. I'll be back with last, last, last week's; last, last week's and last week's FREE BEADS winners later this weekend. I have a bunch to do before tomorrow so I have to get going.
Stay tuned for winners!
thursday afternoon
Coming to you from Dallas! Never got around to the FREE BEAD drawing last, last week OR last week's FREE BEADS winner. Between the move, end of school and this trip - I haven't had much time for anything. Unfortunately FREE BEAD drawings will have to wait until I get back home next week. I'm pretty sure I'll have some beads in my bead box that I can string into a FREE BEAD set for this week. So don't worry - I'll still be holding a drawing for this week and next. It'll just be a bit delayed. So if you want to register, go ahead - I'll be giving away FREE BEADS this week and next.
It's HOT here!!! Ugh - I don't know how I ever lived in this heat. It's hot in the house with the air on 70! It's like the heat just gets into your skin and it won't leave - kind of like the cold getting into your bones. I'm in this constant state of hotness. Must be the humidity because it was in the 90's before I left town and it didn't feel this hot. It's like you don't want to go outside!! I'm about to go get my haircut with my mom. Nothing big, just a trim. My mom wants to beautify herself this week because she's going in for a knee replacement (yikes!) next week and knows she won't be getting out anytime soon. So she and I are going to have a day of beauty.
I'll try and check in this weekend with any exciting news. Right now I'm just trying to survive the HEAT!!
this week's FREE BEADS
friday afternoon
I can't believe I haven't been here all week! I barely have time to sit and eat, much less spend time on the computer. Our new realtor down south is sending me listings and I haven't checked half of them! Much less reply to emails and update my site. So if you've emailed me (and many of you have wishing me well on the move...thank you!) I'm a little behind on replies. I've read them all but like to reply individually and I just don't have enough hours in the day right now to get to it. But I will.
My wonderful brother and his wonderful wife are headed up our way to spend the weekend helping us with the house. Isn't that the best?? JP and I worked our butts off this week and most of what we wanted to finish is done. Yet we wanted to paint our bedroom and bathroom and my brother and his wife are going to help us with that. Must have been divine intervention because JP had 2 one way tickets on Southwest for their trip up and then JP will drive them back home on Sunday since he starts work on Monday. My brother is even starting a new job on Monday so it's especially nice that he's taking his weekend to spend it working with us. Yet I'm sure we'll have some time to sip a beer and play spades....but not before work first!
As you can see, I did manage to scrounge up some FREE BEADS for today's drawing. Yet I still have not picked a FREE BEAD winner from last week! That should tell you how little time I have. So I'll pick last week's and this week's FREE BEADS winners on Monday. I know I won't have time before then. My time management issues will all change once the house is on the market and I'm in my routine. As many of you know that have moved, it's lots of work up front, then it settles down, then it picks back up again just before the movers come. Yet I feel like we've done so much work for them already. In purging (obviously I didn't do so good of a job during my YOP ((year of the purge)) last year) we managed to box up quite a few things. I like my closets to look empty so it appears bigger when the house is being shown. And the dump! Oh my gosh I meant to take a picture. JP borrowed a trailer that was as long and wide as a Tahoe. It was overflowing with crap. Why do we accumulate so much stuff. I'm sure my husband would argue it's more me than him. And I suppose he's right. But after seeing all the things we tossed, I'll think twice about buying something to begin with.
Well I'm off to start taping off our bedroom for tomorrow's main event. Have a great weekend!
sunday night
Haven't picked a FREE BEAD winner yet. I'll do that tomorrow. I've been a bit silent around here because I've been busy. I think I can share my big news with you guys now....drum roll please....
We're moving - AGAIN!
Yes, you and I both read that right. Seems even more real to me seeing it in writing. I always thought we'd live here long enough to see Patrick off to college. But that's not to be. I also had hoped we'd beat our record of living in one city for more than 5 years since we've been married. We've lived here for 4 years this past April. Our longest stay was in Overland Park, Kansas where we lived for almost 5 years. I REALLY hope my next move beats that one.
We're moving to Southern California. My husband's new job is located in Moorpark. We'll be looking for houses in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and the Newbury Park areas. I was in denial for the first week but it's starting to sink in now. The move is made easier because we have family in the area. My brother lives in LA and will be about 45 minutes from where we're looking for a house. And my husband's cousin lives in Westlake Village. In fact, Patrick will be attending the same Catholic school as his cousins. That's a real treat for both families since niether of us has ever had family nearby, much less attending the same school! So we're all very excited about the family aspect of this move. Plus, I'm getting TONS of help from our cousin. She's like my very own personal moving assistant. Thanks ML!!
I don't know when we'll actually move. I'm still trying to get this house ready to sell. That's a priority. Patrick starts school at the end of August so I hope to have a house down there by then. Yet we may have to rent a room at an extended stay hotel for a while. Who knows. I'm not even going to think that far down the road. I'm just trying to get through all the piles of poo I've managed to collect over the years.
Other than the obvious, the move shouldn't really affect my beading. Yet in order to clean up the house, I'm having to move my beading area out to the garage. I'm worried it won't lend itself to much torch time. With my work area down the hall, I found I'd walk in there and light up the torch for just a half hour if that's all the time I had. Now that it's in the garage, I'll feel like I'll need a couple of hours to make it worth my while. I don't know why that is. It's almost like out of sight, out of mind. I'll have to work on that.
So if you've been on my list for a custom order, they'll be on hold for a while. JP and I are taking this entire week getting the house into shape. The following week I'm going to Dallas to see my family. When I return, I'll be busy with realtor tours and such so it may be the end of June before I can get back on the torch regularly. I will try and keep my FREE BEAD offers going.
Stay tuned!
